SPRING MUSICAL 2023
AUDITION INFORMATION

How to get cast
in an HTC Production!

What are your Flu and Covid-19 vaccination policies?

Every student who auditions must meet the follow vaccination requirements:

1. has received the 2022-23 Flu vaccination

2. is "up-to-date" with the Covid-19 vaccinations

There are no exceptions to this rule.  Only official medical exemptions will be allowed.

According to the CDC, "up-to-date" is defined as follows:

A. Has received the most recent booster dose (Bivalent Vaccine) which became available September 2, 2022.

OR

B. Has recently received all recommended doses in the primary vaccine series but is not yet eligible for a booster dose. *These students will be required to get the Bivalent Vaccination booster two months after their most recent dose in order to remain in the production.

     This includes:

i.Those who completed their 2-dose primary series of

an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or                  Moderna) less than 2 months ago.

*Two months prior to January 21, 2023 is

          November 21, 2022.

ii.Those who received a single dose of J&J/Janssen

        less than 2 months ago.

*Two months prior to January 21, 2023 is

          November 21, 2022.

Any concerns regarding this requirement can be directed toward Hannon Theatre Company's producer Mr. Wolfe. (wwolfe@loyolahs.edu)

Official vaccination records or medical exemptions will be collected through the "Cast Information Form."

Do I need to prepare for the audition?

There is no need to prepare anything before auditions, as everything you need to know will be explained at the Audition Camp!

If I am cast, what is the time commitment like?

If you’re wondering whether you have the time to become involved in HTC, you may peruse the Spring Musical Production Calendar on the Calendar page of this website so that you are clear about the extensive time commitment for the production.

Sign up to join the Google Calendar or print out a copy of the Calendar for your easy reference and coordinate your other important calendars to see if our schedule will have any conflicts with yours.   (It is recommended you use the WEEK view to see the full impact of the schedule.) Also, see Calendar Quick Reference Guide to the left for an overview of scheduling information.

Students who have very few conflicts with the rehearsal schedule are more likely to be cast than those who have many other commitments.

Being in an HTC show sounds so awesome! How do I sign up to attend Audition Camp

(Hint: There are 4 steps.)

Step #1 - Sign up for Audition Camp

This year's HTC Spring Musical Audition Camp will be held on January 21.

Audition Camp begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. Auditionees are required to attend the whole day.  Lunch and dinner will be provided!  To sign up to attend Audition Camp, use the Google Form below to let us know you'll be coming!

The Audition Camp activities include a round robin of four classes led by directors and alumni of the HTC program.  These classes prepare the auditionees for the four components of the afternoon audition process: Dancing, Singing, Acting, and Improvisation.  At the end of the four classes, there will be a special mock audition hour where all groups will meet with alumni and go through all aspects of the audition to show how the audition will go in the afternoon.

Step #2 - Parent Orientation

Also required, parents must complete one type of our parent orientation presentations.  A parent will either need to attend the Parent meeting on Thursday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m via Zoom OR complete the following "HTC Parent Orientation Presentation" option.   If parents are not able to attend the meeting, they can complete the HTC Parent Orientation Presentation online.  This mini-course will take about an hour to read and complete the few questions at the end of each segment.  This is about equivalent to the time the actual Parent Meeting would last.

Auditionees should be sure to discuss their interest to participate in Audition Camp with their parents, and be sure one of their parents is either able to attend the mandatory Parent Meeting on Thursday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m or complete one of the Parent Presentations ON TIME (by 5:00pm on January 21.)

Students whose parents do not attend the Meeting or do not complete one of the Parent Presentations will be ineligible for casting.  The meeting or presentation is mandatory for all parents of prospective company members.

The "HTC Parent Orientation Presentation" is for parents of actors who are new to HTC or for parents who would like a refresher on the program's staff, learning goals, mission, and philosophies.

The "HTC Veteran Parent Presentation" is for parents of actors who have previously participated in HTC and would just like a review of the essentials.

Step #3 - Fill Out the Necessary Forms

The forms below must be completed in their entirety and submitted online, but Saturday, January 21 at 5:00pm at the latest.  It would help the process for auditionees to submit them before auditions, but if an auditionee is unable to fill out the forms, he/she should plan on arriving early to auditions at 7:30 a.m.  A computer will be available in Room M6 for anyone who needs one to complete their forms before auditioning.

Step #4 - Fill Out the Consent to Treatment Form

A hard copy of the final required form, the Consent to Treatment form, will be filled out by a parent.  Parents will need to fill out the form at home and have their student bring it with them to the audition.  OR Parents can email the form to Mr. Kuhl.

Without a signed Consent to Treatment form, no one is allowed to be in the theatre or rehearsal hall when rehearsals begin.  Therefore the absolute latest time to submit this form is Tuesday, February 7 at 3:45pm
