fall play 2018
As part of our commitment to a well-rounded theatre education is our rotation of theatrical genres for the annual fall play. Every three years, we look to the Shakespeare canon for one which is culturally relevant for our students to explore.
With this inventive adaptation of Shakespeare's masterpiece, HTC audiences will join the ultimate Machiavellian, the Duke of Gloucester as he deceives his own royal family and fools the government to install himself on the throne despite four rightful heirs standing in his way. It's an epic journey of evil objectives and tactics. Twisted both inside and out by resentment, Richard bulldozes his way to the crown, leaving a path of fear and chaos, but clearing the road for a true hero to finally rescue England from its War of the Roses.
Audiences will love the schemes of the bard's most evil and charismatic genius. We promise a blockbluster, filled with murder, battle, and spectacle no one will want to miss!

spring musical 2019
For HTC's 50th production, The artistic team is delivering up a WORLD PREMIERE MUSICAL, based on Tirso de Molina's classic Renaissance play, The Trickster of Seville.
In the original Don Juan story, a handsome, young nobleman uses his considerable charisma to manipulate ladies into succumbing to his charms. His satisfying comeuppance at the hands of a mysterious spirit echoes the lessons and morals found in the Gospels.
Handsome Devil reimagines the play in the Roaring 20's, interpolating eighteen classic songs from the Jazz Age to help with the story. Reset in San Francisco, Monterrey, Hollywood, and San Juan Capistrano during the golden age of Vaudeville and the dawning of the movie industry, the story takes on a new resonance for modern audiences which makes the story even more poignant.
